Enough Description, Show Me The Visuals
We try our best to keep our pets safe, but we know things happen. Somebody might leave a door open or a fence is not properly put in and then your pet is gone and lost. How will your find your pet? Will somebody else find them and return them? If they have a collar there is a good chance they will be returned, but what if the collar comes off or you didn’t have a collar on your pet? How will you get them back then?
Our mission with this site is to make it easy for pet owners to keep the information on the pet’s registration up to date. The information on the microchip is useless unless it is the correct information. On the website the pet owner has the ability to create a free account where they can register their pet along with the chip registration ID. The site also offers the service of tracking a pet if the pet owner buys their pet a GPS collar. The pet owner can then register the GPS collar with the site and they can track their pet through the site on a map.
This website needed to have a very robust and efficient database that could communicate with the servers where microchip information is kept. We decided to go with a combination of PHP and MySQL. On pages where we needed database interactivity, but did not want to change the page we used AJAX. The site includes a registration page, which let’s pet owners create an account, and let’s them add their pets to their profile. Once the pet owner has an account they can login to their dashboard where they can update their information and their pets’ information.
