Background
Our cars represent so much to us. Freedom, excitement, and personality are some of the adjectives that come to mind. But, so many people forget to do the necessary maintenance to keep their cars running at their best for years to come. Sometimes that lack of attention can lead to disastrous results like engine failure, brake failure or other costly mishaps that keep our cars off the road and our wallets empty.
Mission
The goal was to create a simple app that would allow car owners to track when the next service for their vehicles is supposed to happen. Users can create a free account that will allow them to log in and out of the app and will take them to their Dashboard. Once they reach their Dashboard they can add, edit or remove vehicles which will allow them to track when the next service of their vehicles is going to happen.
Technology
takecareofyourcar.net is a web app built using the MEAN stack architecture. The app uses MongoDB as its database, which is a very popular paring with Node.js. To handle the routing and the views Express is used. I wanted to use an HTML template engine so JADE was used to handle that. Finally, the app needed to be responsive so Bootstrap was implemented. It is a simple, solid app that can be scaled on demand using all the right technologies.
