Enough Description, Show Me The Visuals
A good friend of mine told me once: "you wouldn't expect a surfer to get up on his board the first time he went out surfing, why would you expect art to just happen?" That’s when he explained that by practicing every day different creative projects for myself I could be ready for when I need to create something under pressure. Inspiration is necessary, but without the practice and skill to put down that inspiration you will lose it quickly.
I try to find little projects online that I can use as practice. I enjoy finding new things that I haven’t tried before and am not embarrassed if it has a step by step. By learning things I want to learn that I have not tried before I feel it makes me an overall better artist and even coder. I also sometimes just think of logos for companies and practice with different versions of that logo. Sometimes I even find that practicing classic art helps. I am very proud of my pop art.
With most of my designs I use either Photoshop or Illustrator. Manipulating colors, fonts, shading and gradients is what its mostly about. Lighting is really important like in all art to manage the feel of your piece.
